    Process

How long does a drone roof inspection take?

A typical residential roof inspection takes 30 to 45 minutes on site, plus 48 hours for the PDF report. Commercial roofs take 45 to 90 minutes on site depending on size, with 72-hour reports for large properties.

    Process

Is a drone roof inspection as detailed as climbing the roof?

For visual documentation, yes — and in many cases more thorough, because a drone captures every section of the roof at consistent resolution and lighting. A drone inspection cannot replace a physical probe for membrane thickness or a cut-test for substrate moisture — those require hands on the roof. For 90%+ of visual documentation needs, drone imagery is the better tool. Note: we capture and document; your roofer or engineer interprets what the imagery shows.

    Regulation

Do I need a permit for a drone roof inspection?

No permit is required for the property owner. The drone operator must hold an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and obtain airspace authorization through the FAA's LAANC system where the airspace requires it. Vantage Drone Co. handles all airspace authorization as part of every job.

    Deliverables

    What's included in the report?

A PDF report with cover page, site overview imagery, elevation views, detailed close-up imagery of every area of interest, plain-language captions describing what the imagery shows, and metadata (date, time, geotag) on every shot. Reports are formatted for direct inclusion in an insurance claim, reserve study, or contractor scope of work, but the interpretation and recommendations are made by your roofer, engineer, or adjuster, not by us.

Our commitment is 72 hours for pre-booked retainer clients; faster in many cases. For adjusters, restoration contractors, and property managers with recurring need, we offer retainers with guaranteed response windows.

    Scope

Do you tell me whether my roof needs replacing or what the damage is worth?

No — and we are clear about that boundary. Vantage Drone Co. is a drone imaging and documentation service. We are not licensed roofers, engineers, home inspectors, or insurance adjusters. We capture comprehensive imagery and deliver an organized PDF; you (or your roofer, engineer, or adjuster) make the call on repair scope, structural condition, or claim value. That separation is intentional — it keeps our documentation defensible and keeps your professionals making the professional calls.
