Drone Bridge Inspection

Close-visual imagery without a snooper truck. Drone inspection of bridge decks, girders, abutments, bearings, and undersides is now the industry standard for supplementing close-visual evaluations. Vantage Drone Co. delivers bridge-inspection imagery to engineering firms, municipalities, and contractors working on MassDOT and local-bridge programs across eastern Massachusetts.

Why drone-based

Why drone bridge inspection beats a snooper truck

01

Upward-tilting gimbal captures undersides

Our drones include a camera mount that tilts 70 degrees above horizontal — document the underside of a deck, the edge of a girder, or the interior of a box beam without putting a person or a snooper truck in the lane.

02

LiDAR-enabled obstacle avoidance

Bridge-inspection flights often run in complex, cluttered airspace — close to concrete, steel, and cable. LiDAR-equipped aircraft reduce the risk of contact.

03

Reduced lane closure and tie-off risk

A drone can complete close-visual imagery of a bridge face in 30–90 minutes, without scaffold, snooper truck, or rope access — cutting both lane-closure cost and worker exposure.

Massachusetts context

MassDOT-registered. BVLOS-ready.

The MassDOT Aeronautics Drone Operations Program has received federal funding through the Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration Program to expand UAS-based bridge inspection across the state, and MassDOT has secured a large-scale Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) waiver for infrastructure work.

Vantage Drone Co. is registered with the MassDOT Aeronautics Drone Operations Program and carries Part 107 authorization for the controlled airspace this work typically requires.

Common questions

Before you book.

  • 01

What does a drone bridge inspection cover?

Close-visual imagery of decks, girders, piers, abutments, bearings, and undersides, captured with an upward-tilting gimbal for soffit and bearing-shelf detail.

  • 02

How fast is the bridge inspection report?

PDF report delivered within 48 to 72 hours of the flight, formatted for direct inclusion in an engineering or DPW file.

  • 03

    Are bridge inspections weather-sensitive?

Yes. We avoid sustained wind above 25 mph and precipitation. Tide and current are factored on tidal structures. Weather cancellations reschedule at no cost.

Scope of work

What Vantage Drone Co. does — and doesn't do.

Vantage Drone Co. is a drone imaging and documentation service. We capture comprehensive, professional-grade aerial imagery and deliver it as a clearly organized PDF report.

We are not licensed roofers, structural engineers, home inspectors, or insurance adjusters. We do not make repair recommendations, structural determinations, or claim valuations. Our deliverable is the imagery and documentation — interpretation is handed off to your bridge engineer, municipal DPW, or contractor.
