Winter Drone Monitoring for Lake Winnipesaukee Island Camps

Winter Watch is a monthly drone documentation service for camp owners on the islands of Lake Winnipesaukee. Think of it as drone-equipped home watch for camps no one can reach in winter. Once the lake locks up, the only way out is a snowmobile across solid ice, and the shoulder weeks at either end of the season leave the islands cut off entirely. We launch from a fixed lakeshore or on-ice position, photograph your property from water-side angles, and send you a dated photo set and written summary every month your camp sits empty, from fall closeup through ice-out. $99 per month.

The problem

The Off-Season Gap on Lake Winnipesaukee Islands

Five months when nobody can check on your camp. From ice-in to ice-out, island camps on Winnipesaukee are functionally unreachable. No boat once the lake freezes, and snowmobile access only works once the ice is fully locked up, which leaves the shoulder weeks at either end of the season with no way over at all. A storm rolls through and you find out in April.

01

Storm damage

Wind, ice, and limb-fall events between December and April. Flagged on the next route day, not in May.

02

Tree fall

Heavy snow and ice load brings trees down on roofs, decks, and dock cribbing. Visible from the air on the next pass.

03

Ice & dock damage

Heaving ice displaces docks, cribs, and shoreline structures, and shore-power outages can knock dock equipment offline mid-freeze. Documented before, during, and after each freeze cycle.

04

Break-ins

Forced doors, broken windows, and snowmobile tracks to a closed-up camp, the kinds of things obvious from above.

What's included

What Every Winter Watch Visit Includes

01

Water-side photo set

High-resolution aerial photos from water-side angles each visit. Same launch positions and shot angles every month so visits are directly comparable.

02

Visible roof, wall & window coverage

Roof and wall faces visible from the water-side approach, the surfaces that show storm and ice damage first. Coverage depends on your property orientation and is qualified before enrollment.

03

Dock, boathouse & shoreline

Whether the dock is still standing, ice damage and displacement, boathouse condition, and visible shoreline structures, documented each visit.

04

Visible tree & storm debris

Wind-fallen limbs, leaning trees, and storm debris on the water-facing portion of the lot, flagged before they become a spring problem.

05

Month-over-month change detection

Same shots, same angles, every visit. Every report references prior visits so changes since last month are obvious at a glance.

06

Written summary + dated photos

Email summary with notable observations, dated photos, and a coverage note documenting what was and was not captured this visit. Within 48 hours of every flight.

How it works

How Winter Watch Works

A scheduled route, a published calendar, a fixed launch point.

01

Confirm coverage & reserve

Send your property address. We confirm within 48 hours that it's within our visual coverage area for your island, then you reserve a spot with a refundable deposit. Routes activate when enough properties on the same island enroll.

02

Get the season calendar

Before the season starts you receive a calendar of expected visit dates. Dates are scheduled around the operator's firefighter shift schedule and weather windows.

03

Route day flight

The drone launches from a fixed lakeshore point and flies your island cluster. Cold-weather flight windows are limited, expect roughly 6 productive flight hours per route day.

04

Photos & summary email

A written summary email with notable observations and a dated, geo-tagged photo set arrives after every flight. Weather cancellations roll forward to the next route day.

Season

Dec, Ice-Out

Coverage area

Winnipesaukee Islands

Storm Response

Storm Response Flights

When severe weather hits between visits. Request a Storm Response flight any time during the season. We schedule within 24 to 72 hours of your request, weather and safe operating conditions permitting, and deliver a photo set and written summary within 24 hours of the flight. Every storm response report includes a direct comparison against your most recent monthly visit so any changes are dated and documented.

$249 / response

Available to every Winter Watch subscriber. Request by email or web form, billed when the visit is scheduled. No minimums, no commitment beyond your monthly subscription.

Storm Response Plan

$399 / season

Includes 3 storm response visits across the season. Additional responses billed at $199 each. Best for owners who have had storm damage before or who want documented coverage of every significant weather event.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

How does Winter Watch work for an island camp?

A drone launches from a fixed lakeshore or on-ice position and photographs your property from water-side angles. A dated photo set and written summary arrive within 48 hours of every visit.

  • 02

    How often are flights scheduled?

Once per calendar month, for as long as your camp sits empty. Most owners run December through ice-out, but you can start earlier, some leave as early as Labor Day. Roughly five visits across a standard winter, billed at $99 per month.

  • 03

What does Winter Watch cover, and what does it not cover?

Coverage is water-side visual only, captured from a fixed launch position within FAA visual line-of-sight rules. We document the dock, boathouse, shoreline, visible roof and wall faces, and tree canopy on the water-facing portion of the lot. We do not fly close-proximity around structures, under or through tree canopy, or to portions of your property not visible from our standard launch position. Coverage is qualified per-property before enrollment.
